Rev Dr. John Tyson

Rev. Dr. John H. Tyson serves as pastor of Edenton United Methodist Church, bringing many years of pastoral experience, theological study, and a deep commitment to serving people and community. He holds a Master of Divinity from Duke Divinity School and a Ph.D. from the University of Edinburgh.

Dr. Tyson’s ministry is rooted in the Wesleyan tradition and shaped by thoughtful preaching, compassionate pastoral care, and a desire to help people grow in faith and find meaningful ways to serve others. He is honored to walk alongside the congregation of Edenton UMC as together they seek to love God, love one another, and serve the wider community.
